| Diamondhead Spartans is proud to be a USA Football recognized and certified tackle football program in Hancock County! What does that mean? It means that the Diamondhead program is committed to the movement to make football a safer sport and to advancement of football programs nationwide. USA Football is the NFL's National Football Governing Body. While each league is independently run, we receive our guidance from experts in the field as it relates to safety, techniques, and coaching philosophies. Each coach undergoes rigorous training during a coaching clinic and must complete an 8 hour Tackle Certification Course, which includes blocks of instruction on hydration, concussion awareness, equipment fitting, Heads Up Tackling, and Heads Up Blocking. In addition to the measures put in place by our USA Football affiliation, We have Emergency personnel at each game to ensure crowd and player safety.
Beginning with camp style practices in mid-July and ending in post-season play in mid-November, our Tackle Football program is our largest and most intense program. We also hold an All-Star season by invitation following our regular season. Tackle Football practices are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until the first regular season game, at which time practices are reduced to Tuesdays and Thursdays only. A unique feature of the Diamondhead Spartans is that all practices are held on the same days and times for the convenience of parents with multiple children, sometimes in different age groups. Games are played on Saturdays. Diamondhead Spartans is a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Youth Football Association.
Registration for our Tackle Football Program includes a custom jersey, helmet, shoulder pads, and socks. Players must furnish one pair of black integrated football pants, mouthpiece, and chin strap, as well as a practice jersey. Our players are allowed to keep their jersey following the season, but must return all issued equipment. |
